Chapter 6
Using PowerPoint in Blackboard
Presentations created in PowerPoint can have a terrific visual impact for students in addition to providing an excellent outline of important course information. Many instructors are choosing to make their presentations available to students on Blackboard for further study.
Before instructors upload their PowerPoint presentations, they should consider the needs of their students. There are two types of file formats you may provide to your students, each serving a different purpose. Presentations may be uploaded as a:
- traditional .ppt
- or as an Impaticafile.
In the traditional .ppt file format, students have the ability to print slides, thus having a hard copy of the presentation to take to class. It may become difficult for students with slower Internet connections to view these types of media within a PowerPoint presentation. Presentations with photos, animations, movies, or other media extras, tend to have a large file size. With Impatica files, students have quick access to files of a large size. Consequently, we strongly suggest the use of Impatica files, over the traditional .ppt file format.
