Chapter 3
The Control Panel
The Control Panel is used for all course administration. By default only instructors will be given access to the Control Panel. However, teaching assistants may be added at the instructors' request.
The Control Panel is divided into six sections. Each of the six sections is described below. The seventh item serves as a reminder to use the "Breadcrumb Trail" instead of the back button. The trail also can be used to return to the students' view, so instructors can see what the student sees. To return to the students' view click the "course name" located within the breadcrumb trail. Use the "Course Menu" to navigate through the course as a student.
Each of the six sections of the Control Panel is described below.
- Content Areas: Links to the areas of your course where you will add course material. All content areas have the same features.
- Course Tools: Formats and utilizes the communication tools to send e-mail, create tasks, and work with groups.
- Course Options: Create the perfect course for your needs by customizing the settings including, but not limited to, options for colors, button styles, or banner images.
- User Management: This section is used to view the student class list with "List/Modify Users," or set up groups. "Manage Groups" will allow you to create groups and set their properties. The adding or changing of user properties or removing users feature has been disabled since the enrollment process was automated.
- Assessment: Create question pools, online assessments and surveys, or use the Gradebook.
- Support: View the Instructor Manual produced by blackboard.com in this section of the Control Panel; contact the UF Blackboard Support Team at blackboard@findlay.edu or x5513/x4538; or, contact the system administrator.
- Breadcrumb Trail: Displays the current page's context within the site structure.
