Chapter 2
The Tools Box
The gray box on the upper left side of the screen contains links to many features you can use to enhance your Blackboard experience.
Features of the "Tools" box include the following links:

- Announcements link allows users to view all course announcements.
- UF Web Calendar will link you to a calendar system controlled by the University. This calendar is independent from the Blackboard program.
- Tasks link displays current responsibilities and their corresponding levels of priority. The individual user creates these tasks.
- View Grades link is primarily for students' use-but instructors can be students too! Grades will only appear here if the instructor has entered grades in the Gradebook in Blackboard and has made it available to students. This is not the official grade report for the University. Students may view their "Official" grades through UF Student Academic Information. This is located in the drop-down menu on The University of Findlay main page or under the "Services" tab within Blackboard.
- Send E-mail link lists the courses in which you are participating and will allow you to choose different groups of people (i.e. Users, Instructors, etc.) to send e-mails to.
- The User Directory is a list of every Blackboard user who has changed his or her privacy settings to allow public display of selected information in the directory. Users who leave their settings at the default "Private" setting do not show up in the directory.
- Use the Address Book to store friends' and colleagues' contact information. Then, you can get the information you need whenever and wherever you have access to the Internet.
- Personal Information link allows you to edit your privacy settings, your personal information, or to change your name or address.
- UF Web E-mail will link you to your UF net account while preserving your logged-in status within Blackboard.
- Use the Search link to perform a keyword search on any of your Blackboard courses. You may also use the search box located at the top right corner of the screen.
It is recommended that users do not attempt to change their username or password. All usernames and passwords are maintained through an ITS database separate from Blackboard. Your password may only be changed within your UF net account software. Changing passwords in Blackboard will disable future access.
